i just began substitute teaching.  my students are 8th graders.  any ideas for new games that would work well for my students?  They already know each other since it's been several weeks already.  I'd just like a short game that would build teamwork or promote a better learning environment within the classroom.  Your suggestions appreciated!!

you can try like a class jeopardy thing and divide them up by rows. everyone in a row is on a team and they can collaborate to get an answer. this can be like a week long game. you could put it on a big white board and let it stay up there and go to it everytime you have a few free minutes or so!

you could also try games where you ask a question, have everyone submit an answer and then read only the answers outloud (not the answerer's name) then everyone guesses who answered what. it's fun because they already sorta know eachother.. but it can be surprising too.. you can use like thinking questions like what would you do in this situation, or just regular questions like what animal would you want to be! there are a lot of type of games like this out there! well good luck! and have fun of course!!!!
